Nsync
Yes, I went to the N’Sync concert in Minneapolis. It was pretty cool. Merideth Edwards, Tanya Mitchell?? and Eden’s Crush opened. Nsync was incredible. I’ll have pictures up on my site soon. Lots of special effects. It was me, my sisters, and my friend Joanna that went. We even had an extra ticket! Peace for now.

Long time, no C
Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve written in here. Lots has happened since then, but I don’t remember most of it. Let’s see. Went clubbing again at the quest. Lots of fun there. Some high quality EntErtainmEnt. hEhE. I work at 2 places now that I’m at home. Target and Gap. Target sucks. Gap is cool. I’m done with Target forever on July 24th. Yeah! Lets see, my summer at a glance: June 24th (my bday and Nsync concert in mpls), July 26? – Moby Area 1 concert in mpls, July 27 – new gap at rosedale opens (pictures of kids to be on my site as soon as i get them developed), July 28-Aug 7 – Vacation to North Carolina! That’s my summer. Peace out for now.

God ‘Outside’ the Box
Now, I don’t mean this in the Unitarian sense, where they view the Universe or our world as a box, that God created, and then closed and sealed this box, never to hear from him again. But actually, in the case I’m arguing, the box was sealed the whole time, and God has always been outside the box. In my History of Calculus class this past week, we learned about the 4th dimension. Now, I’m not talking about time, as the 4th dimension is usually refered to. I’m talking about the 4th
spatial dimension. Try to understand how this works. In 2D,
if you try to introduce a 3D object into 2D, all you see is the outline of this
object. So if I were to put my finger into a 2D creature’s world, all it would
see is the round outline of my finger. It would have absolutely no knowledge of
my presence until I were to put my finger through it’s plane. Essentially,
you could see inside a 2D person’s brain, and you could mess with their mind,
without them ever knowing it. You could kill a 2D creature by taking out
it’s heart, and it’d never know (except that it’d be dead). This is
essentially the same with 4D. If a 4D creature introduces themself into
our 3D environment, all you would see would be a 3D shape, or object. A
person in the 4th Dimension, could also mess with our brains, and take out our
heart without us ever knowing it. It’s difficult to understand, but it
makes sense doesn’t it? So if God is omnipotent, omniscious, omnipresent, etc…
this can best be explained by us having at least a 4 dimensional God. But
I don’t think God would limit himself to only 4 dimensions, I propose that God
is infinite dimensional. Then, if God is infinite dimensional, he can be
omnipotent (there is no way to destroy something that is in a higher dimension
than yours), omniscious (he can see into our brains right? He knows what we’re
thinking every moment of our lives), omnipresent (think about it this way, we
can put 2 fingers into a 2D world, even more actually. So if God is infinite
dimensional, then he can be everywhere at once too.). You see, the
universe we live in is very well sitting in a 4th Dimension. Where 2D has
planes, 3D has surfaces and objects, 4D has hyperplanes, and hyper
surfaces. Multiple 3D objects can be layered in a hyperplane. So
then, our universe is in one hyperplane, and then quite possibly, heaven is in
another, and hell another still. That is why heaven and hell can not be seen
with the naked eye, because there is a open space in 4D between our hypercubes.
God could have very well have created our universe with a storehouse in his
dimension. Pulling pieces from another dimension, and placing them into our own,
to create the Earth, the planets, the stars. He never would have even had
to be inside our universe. He could have very well placed the Bible into
our world, but then how should we believe that it is true? It is the inspired
word of God. Hey, Jesus could have been a 3D visual of God in his infinite
dimensionality. This is where the Unitarian’s have it wrong. Because
if God is infinite dimensional, then the box has no boundaries he can’t cross.
He may have made us inside a box, and then sealed it, but he can still
communicate with us from his dimension. I could ramble on forever, but I
don’t know anymore I could say that would make any more sense.
If anyone who reads this has more question, or would like another
explaination as to why I believe God is infinite dimensional, and created our
world from ‘Outside the Box’ please email me.

Gap Opening
Well, yesterday was the opening day of the new GapKids and temporary Adult store. It went pretty well. Not as busy as I’d expect, but I suppose people didn’t know that we moved. Not really a ‘Grand Opening’ yet. The fitting rooms are interesting though. Only 4 rooms, and a line that goes about 15 feet. I’m glad I don’t have to try on clothes. It’s a good thing the new store has 21, yes, 21 fitting rooms. Amazing. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it back for the grand opening, work the week before like I did for this one. I go on vacation the day that the store is supposed to open, hopefully if they delay it, it will be like 2 weeks, so I’ll be back from vacation and all. I love Gap. I really like the store where it is located though. The cashwrap is in the rear of the store, which is kind of cool. I helped do the visuals in the front windows too. I was at the store on Thursday until 4 am. That was really late, but I had a really good time doing them. I’ll let you all know how it’s going in a week or so, before I leave for the summer :-( . And visit my webpage soon too, I’ll have pictures of the new store on it, as soon as I finish up the roll, and get them developed. Peas.

I love work
Yeah! I’m so excited! This is the week that we get to move into the new GapKids and BabyGap store. During the remodel of the Gap store, we will be located in GapKids. We’re going to be closed Wed. and Thurs., to move everything we need over there. I’m working both days, to help with this. The only bad thing is, there are only 4 fitting rooms, and right now we have 10 in gap, and another 4 in gapkids. Our new store will have 16! It will be very interesting how this will all work out. We open officially on Friday. Gotta go now. Piece.

What a horribly, awful day
What a day. I got up today, went to class (as usual). But today, is a midterm day for me. I hate when they introduce new stuff in class on the day of an exam. As if students weren’t confused enough already. Especially in Calc 4, where every formula is almost identical to each other, except for one part usually. That one part, making a problem 10 times harder, or 10 times easier than it should be. My Chem exam went ok. It’s multiple choice, so I know even if I can narrow my answer down to 2 choices, I can probably pick the correct one. Calc, on the other hand, unless you have all the freakin formulas memorized, it’s next to impossible to do some of the stuff I’m doing. Had I the book to look at, just for an example, I probably would have done much better. It’s times like this I wish I would have become a business major much sooner. What does a person working for a marketing firm need to know the triple integral of (x^2z^2,y^3,z-zx^2)dxdydz (changed into sperical coordinates just for fun) over the region (x,y,z^4). Does this even make sense to anyone? I think if you pretend to know what you’re doing, they’ll probably mark your answer’s right. I just ‘simplified’ more. That’s all! :-)
Other than that little bit, my day went ok. I saw a friend from high school whom I haven’t seen in a few weeks. We talked after our chem exam and between class/exams. And tonight Gina and Kristen(-in?) came by for a while. You see, Kristen’s in short calc. She’s a marketing major. Guess what. That’s what I want to do! So if I were a marketing major before this year, all I would have needed was short calc. Sucks to be me I guess. Ah, well. Enough ranting and raving for tonight. Peas.

A week in the life
Not much to say, but at the persuasion of a friend, I am writing again. (My life is so interesting) Let’s see here. A typical week for me. Did all my homework, went to class, etc. I worked all weekend too. That was kind of fun actually. I haven’t had such a good time at work in a long time. Everything is on sale, so not much for me to buy, but we sure sold a lot. Friday was a blast too. After coming back from work, I hung out for a while. When my roommates returned from Fraternity activities (their in Sigma Lambda Beta for those who are interested) they all went out to Perkins. This is at 2:30 am. I went with, and we had a fun time laughing and stuff. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in a long time. Jontue (sp?) is hilarious. He can make anything funny, especially making fun of other people, in a good way of course. So I get back from Perkins at 4:30, hit the sack at 5, and wake up at 8:30 for work at 10 on Saturday. It’s really hard to stay awake with only 3 hours of sleep, but I seemed to manage ok. It wasn’t until I got back that it hit me. Then I stayed up until 2am. That was the real killer. Finally all of the snow is gone. I can’t believe it. All the rain over the weekend washed it all away. Now I can go rollerblading, except for the huge piles of gravel and sand on all the sidewalks. Oh well. Maybe later this week, after more rain. It’s supposed to get warmer this week, so that’ll be nice. Enough of my boring life for tonight. Piece.

Website Hosting
Does anyone know how hard it is to find a decent web hosting site? Absolutely nothing compares to the price of ohhello.com hosting, but I haven’t gotten a reply from the ’1 hour during the day’ owners in 2 days. Hmmm. I can’t find anything quite as cheap as this, or as fast. Ok, one maybe. But that one has even less information than ohhello does. And what are email aliases? Is that the same as a POP3 account? I doubt it. Why would I want IMAP over POP3? Unlimited bandwidth would be nice too, but I don’t think I’d ever use it up anyways. CGI-bin is a must, but not all compaines allow perl. Only php (which is good) and c scripting. Is there a method to the madness? I don’t think so. I wish I could have my own server to do the hosting, but that’s way too expensive, i think. Anyways, enought ranting for tonight. Peas.

Depressing night at the Oscars
Weren’t the Oscars awful? Steve Martin was about the only thing good about them. I thought he was really funny. But ratings were down 11% from last year (or something like that) which is an all-time low! I’m glad Julia Roberts won though. If she didn’t I think everyone would have cried bloody murder
Anybody have an idea for a domain name? I want to register my own, but I’m not sure what it should be. I’ve thought of e-zerocool.com, or gap.com, but I’m stumped. I don’t think I really want anything to do with my name on my website. How dumb would dave@dhelfinstine.com be. dave@e-zerocool.com sounds ok though. Nothing to do with the UofM either, and most dotcom variations are already taken. Gap would be cool, but then what if I quit there? Then I’d have a domain I didn’t want anymore. So this leads me to e-zerocool.com. It sounds ok, but maybe too geeky. I can’t think of any other nicknames that I would want a website to be named after. Helfinstine.net would be cool for my family, but not a personal domain. Hmm. whatever.
Spring break is boring so far. All of my friends already had break, or have it next week. Not even MTV is showing anymore spring break. But tomorrow is my parents anniversary, so I’ll cook for them. That might be fun. Champagne chicken. It’s good stuff. Nice heavy cream sauce, with mushrooms. It’s basically like cream of mushroom soup over chicken which has been cooked with champagne. Fun fun. If anyone reads this, lemme know which domain to pick. TTYL!

Good times
What a week. I haven’t written here in a while. No reason, just forgot. Lots have happened too. Lets see, last week I went to the Quest for college ID night. It was awesome. It’s the best club I’ve been in before. I hope to go back soon. I went with two of my roommates, and some friends. This past week has been kind of boring except for that. Just class as usual. The snow is melting at a record pace now. Almost all of it is gone on the north side of the street. South side has a ways to go though. (shadows and shade and stuff). Worked a lot too. Tonight I got to hang out with the people I went to the club with. Gina and Kristen and some other girls. They’re cool. Spring break is this next week. Maybes something exciting will happen, but I doubt it. Isn’t that the way it always goes?

The Great Melt Down Continues
Can you believe it? It was 53degrees here in Minneapolis today! It’s amazing. I thought the arctic circle had moved over Minnesota by now. It hasn’t been this warm out since last October probably. All of the snow we got this past week is gone, as well as some of the other stuff. You can actually see the sidewalk and streets! Now it’s just dodging the puddles (lakes actually) that are now scattered around campus.
I took 3 midterms today. Not recommended for the weak of heart, let me tell you that. My History of Christianity test was easy, just a lot of memorization that I will now forget until the final. Chemistry wasn’t too bad. I didnt’ do as well as I would have hoped, but I think I did ok. And my really, really hard Calc 4 test, ended up being really really easy. Either that, or I did really really bad. It only took me about a half an hour to take the test, which should have taken an hour. Hmm. Someone else told me that they thought it was really easy, and they’re pretty good at math, so it must have been easy then. Whatever. Got to go play some Quake 3 now. What a fun game. I suck at the dreamcast version, but get me behind my PC, and I’ll kick anybody’s butt anyday. Hehe.

Gap sweet Gap
How I’ve missed working. They’re on a payroll shortage, so I don’t get scheduled very often. I used to work like 4 days a week, but now I’m lucky if they schedule me 2, and don’t cut my hours one of those days. I work at the Gap. I never thought I’d see myself working in a clothing store, but it’s not anything that I’ve expected. You have to be a certain kind of person to work there. It’s not like working at Target (i’ve worked there too :-) ) where just about anyone with a body can get a job. You get some weird people working there. Gap, on the other hand, is mostly comprised of very nice looking young ladies, men of alternative sexual preference, effeminate heterosexual males, and the occasional full blown flaming hetero male (I fall into this category). But the girls that shop there, WOW! It’s especially nice when you’re working the fitting rooms, and girls with extra tight jeans come back, and ask you if their jeans fit all right. Mmmm. If only I worked more often. I think working there changed my mind, about what I want to do with my life too. I really think I want to get a business major. Especially if I could get to work for Gap. That’s another year, another several years actually. Oh, well. I must be signing off for bed now. I work tomorrow again, and I can’t wait to see what kind of eye candy shows up then!

Instant Messenger Hell
Whatever you do, accept messages from people you don’t know on AIM. This stupid girl from Alabama keeps im’ing me. She’ll change her screenname, even if I block her. It’s annoying. I don’t want to get a different screenname, so I guess I will have to deal. She even tried to ‘trick’ me into thinking it was a friend of hers. I knew it was her though. Why would someone new contact me only a minute after I warned and blocked her? 2+2=5? Right?
ANYWHO! Double integrals actually aren’t as hard as they were made out to be. They’re simple in fact. Easier than most of the stuff I’ve done this year. So now I sit here, getting ready for bed, writing to the masses, hoping someone will listen. Eh, whatever. See you tomorrow.

Double Integrals & Gnocci
God I hate double inegrals. I suppose I should have gone to class last Friday and found out how to actually do them, instead of trying to read the cryptic writing in the textbook. Vector Calculus is hard. At least in business, I’ll never have to use any of this stuff I’ve learned. Only basic calc. That stuff is easy. They make it look so easy in the book too. Like you go here–>to here–>to answer! Yeah, but what do you do in between?! And I’ll bet you’re wondering what Gnocci is too. Gnocci is an Italian sort-of pasta. We made it in a seminar that I’m taking. The kind we made is made with mashed potatoes, egg yolks, and flour. You boil it in water, and it’s done. You put spaghetti sauce on it too.
I’ve been trying to update my website too. I want to redesign it, but I can’t seem to get the graphics to look the way I want them to, or the tables to behave the way they should. I really like the layout of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. Maybe I’ll try something like that, someday. Until then, I guess my site will have to do. I also wish I had ASP access. I can do ASP scripts, and databases really easily, but the web server on my computer, which does asp, can’t be seen on the internet. Stupid firewall. I’ll bet anyone reading this is thinking ‘What the heck? What is this guy talking about? What are double integrals? What planet is this guy from? What is asp?’ Well, the answers to these questions, can best be explained by going to college and taking calc 4, asking a web developer. And as for what planet I am from? I can’t tell you. Then I’d have to kill you. If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for reading my psychobabble. I promise my other entries won’t be this..technical. Hopefully. TTFN.

A Minnesota Spring
It seems my usual route to class will have to change for a little while. With all the warm weather in Minnesota this past weekend (warm=above 32F) the parking lot that I walk through on campus has turned into a lake. There are islands of ice that I can walk on, but it’s kind of pointless, since it takes me twice as long as usual, and my feet are soaked by the time I finally make it across. In fact, there’s lakes everywhere! There’s so much snow blocking the storm drains, the water can’t get down them. I don’t remember this from Springs passed. I remember last year when the temperature at the end of February was 70! Hard to believe. Check this cool little weather tool out. It’s called ‘Weather Bug’. It sits in your taskbar, and tells you the current temperature outside. It works only if you have a station in your area. You can get forecasts, and radar data too. TTFN

Hey Everyone
Hey everyone! I really should be going to bed soon, since it’s 2:30am and all. What do you think of my new journal? I don’t know how often I’ll write in it, but feel free to comment!
