This is from November. It is when we had our final walkthrough. We are all moved in now, more or less.

…mine just happens to be right! Um, literally. Everyone is blogging about the election, so I thought I’d add my 2 cents.
Basically, if you know me, you know where I stand. If you don’t, here are 2 clues:
1. When I was 5 (1988 election-Bush), I knew whoever was running against George HW Bush was for abortion. I knew that abortion was something about killing babies, and I had a new baby brother, so I figured he’d kill my brother if he was elected.
2. When I was 9 (1992 election-Clinton), I was convinced the world would end if Clinton was elected. Apparently it didn’t, but he lost in our school election. In fact, Ross Perot even got more votes than him!! (13 for Perot, 10 for Clinton, the others were all for Bush. Pretty sure I told everyone that if they voted for Clinton, the world was going to end, and they believed me!)
Anyway, the election may not have turned out the way I would have preferred, but I think it helps a lot to remember that nothing surprises God. He knew the outcome of the election and will continue to work regardless of who’s President. And I do have to admit that having a President who’s black definitely shows how far the country’s come as a whole since even just 50 years ago. It’ll be an interesting 4 years, that’s for sure.
“You are a social conservative. You believe in traditional values, and care first and foremost about your country, your family, and your religion. You dislike the agenda of the left because you see them as trying to destroy these things.”
“You’re a Capitalist Purist. You believe that the market should be completely free, and that the invisible hand of the market will make sure that the people get what they want and will do it in the most efficient way possible. You believe in small government, less taxes, and more privatization.”
“You’re an Authoritarian. You believe that that, left to their own, many people will do immoral or harmful things. You despise drug users, pornography, violence, and all other things that you consider immoral. You also think that security is often more important than protecting rights. You think children need to be protected from seeing these things so it doesn’t warp their minds, and that the will of the majority sometimes is more important than the rights of the minority.”
“You’re a Militarist. You believe that since the United States has so much power in the world, it has a responsibility to keep the world safe. You think that if the US does not exert its power in the world, it may eventually lose its power, and that we can not look weak in the face of terrorists, and must take them out where they live.”
Overall, you would most likely fit into the category of NeoCon Republican

Dear Mr. Obama:
I did not vote for you, but I wish you well. Please take this job with care. You promised many things that those of us who did not vote for you will now hold you accountable for. Please remember that as you promised to raise taxes for the rich, you also promised to help the middle class, like me. Don’t let your extravagant ideas of health care get in the way of helping the middle class. My health care is going up on average 33% this next year. My raise, up to 9%. Those numbers don’t match. That means that with what I have right now, I will make less next year than this year, but I’ll pay more in taxes (thanks MN democrats for the gas tax and the VOTE YES tax). Whatever this change is, make it good. Make it last. Make it so that when the next election comes around, I may posit the notion of voting for you (although I don’t agree with you on some pretty fundamental issues). You have the next four years to prove that you are the change we need, since that’s what America voted for. Again, I did not vote for you, but you are my President, and so, I will respect you (unlike those that do not respect our current President). Thank you.
New update on the house…we visited it today (11/2). Almost done! PLUS, we got final approval this week!
Jay Bjerkaas, my grandpa, was born October 29, 1908. He would have turned 100 today. He died just after New Year’s 2000 (the doctors said January 2, but it was very close to midnight); he wanted to make sure no crazy y2k things happened, like planes falling out of the sky.
In a way, it’s hard to believe that was almost 9 years ago–I can clearly remember doing my Great Depression and World War II projects in 9th grade and asking him about what life was like then…apparently they built a barn, got new farm equipment, and all sorts of things you’d think wouldn’t happen then, but hey, I guess things were different in rural MN!
At the same time, though, so much has happened since then. All 3 of us graduated from high school…Timothy & I graduated from college (and Timothy was commissioned into the Army)…I got married. Those are the times when I miss him the most.
Here’s some new pictures of our house. Noticeable improvements: walls, ceiling, woodwork.
