McCain/Palin \'08

McCain/Palin '08

<sarcasm> Who am I voting for this election? Obama of course! Why? Because I give in to peer pressure. I hear what everyone is saying, and I agree! Who could be better than Obama? I give you one chance to say one name!!! My coworkers have told me again and again when I try to have a civilized discussion about the election that my ideas and beliefs are completely wrong and I have to go with who would be best for America. I mean, I tried to say that I wasn’t voting for Obama, but it’s just so much easier to say that I am! Roe vs. who? Econo-what? I can’t wait until I have affordable healthcare, while sacrificing my paycheck, so I can’t afford my mortgage and I go broke. I have full faith in the communist….er, democratic party. Vote for Change! </sarcasm>

No really,
VOTE FOR AMERICA!!!

12 Oct 2008 Church…..Energize
 |  Category: Personal  | Tags: , , , ,  | Comments off

I just don’t feel energized by going to church right now. I’d rather sleep in than go. I don’t know what it is. Sometimes, I feel like I get a great sermon, and I work on what was said. But mostly, I feel like I could gain more energy by sleeping! How awful is that! I’m really looking forward to moving ‘too’ far away from our current church home, just so we can check out some new places. I LOVE the the people at church, but I just don’t get what I need to out of church. I’ve been to my parent’s church and LOVE it. The sermons are just so energizing, and the music is motivational to help the sermon. Anyways, that’s my two cents. I’m sleeping in today. Sarah says she’s going, but I’m going to sleep in.

07 Oct 2008 7.5 years of George Bush
 |  Category: News, Political  | Tags: , , , ,  | Comments off

(from an E-mail forward I got today)

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high–14,000 +
5) American’s were buying new cars,taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!…

But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION
DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~
2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT! ….

REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.

AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

JUST HOW MUCH MORE ‘CHANGE’ DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

04 Oct 2008 50 degrees and rising

It used to be that I had to wait until it was 50°F until I could wear shorts. As an adult, 50° is COLD!!! I turned on the heat at 60, and now I’m wearing a sweatshirt at 50. What was I thinking as a kid???

Time to sign away our lives entirely!
A week and a half ago we signed a purchase agreement for a townhouse near Kristen & Chad…3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, 3 stories with a family room! It’s in an association with a community center with a fitness center, party room, & pool, along with biking/walking trails. Also, with association fees and the mortgage, it’s completely affordable–not much more than we’re currently paying to rent our lovely 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath townhome with zero amenities!
Today we got two novels in the mail, as I like to call them. Two copies of all the mortgage papers where we sign away our lives. I wonder how many trees are used to create all these forms that we sign & then just file away somewhere…
So yay! Exciting. We have to turn in notice here by the end of the month, then closing is mid/late November, provided everything goes according to plan.

In other exciting news, we opened our new aerie store last Tuesday. Our store is lovely and beautiful, although it’s so much slower than AE! I’m the hiring manager, so it was incredibly chaotic the first week of September when I was trying to get us a full staff, along with looking for houses. Then, the weekend we were getting ready to open the store, we signed the purchase agreement! Our NSO (new store opener–corporate sends each new store someone to help them open–a manager from another store who has been trained to help, or at the very least, given a list of email addresses and phone numbers of people to contact when something inevitably goes wrong!) figured my stress level must be at about 27 on a 1-10 scale. Oh well, how different is buying a house & opening a store be from taking finals, grading finals, moving, & getting married in a one-week time frame??

21 Aug 2008 let’s try this again…

So, as David & I have both written, we’ve been “looking” for a house. Due to just finishing up school, not having real jobs, & having student loans, we couldn’t get the one we wanted in January. Now, since David has a real job (plus a raise) and I have a real job (manager at our new Aerie store, opening in September), we’re going to try again. Before we start looking too hardcore, we’re going to see what we’re approved for. If high enough, there are some new Centex homes that will be at the top of our list!
