28 May 2010 Meeting the Family
 |  Category: Miscellaneous

This past weekend, I went ‘home.’

I don’t really know what to refer to as what exactly anymore.  Obviously, my house is ‘home,’ but so is Fargo.  So bear with me.  In this situation, Fargo and my parents’ house will qualify as ‘home.’

Since I hadn’t been there in almost 2 months, it seemed like a good idea to visit, give out belated Mother’s Day, birthday, and graduation gifts to each member of my family who currently resides there, and it happened to coincide with the weekend Melissa, Timothy’s girlfriend (they’re ‘in a relationship’ on Facebook, so that must make it official!) was planning on being there, along with her whole family.  So it was a perfect time to meet her!

Timothy & Melissa

Here’s the two of them…in a gondola…in Venice.  Melissa has some wonderful stories and pictures of her trip to Europe to visit Timothy and meet the rest of my family on her blog (back in the January-ish time period).

We spent Friday afternoon with Melissa, eating at Taco John’s (a must!) and showing her around Fargo…our old schools, church, Timothy’s dorm, Grandma’s house, the river, and other exciting places of note.

Melissa also got to experience the Spiderweb, but then she went down to take some pictures of us and Dad decided to show us his climbing prowess.  Considering how dangerous this particular piece of playground equipment is, I’m surprised it’s still there at all, although it does not begin to compare to the amazing, double-peaked spiderweb of my youth!  (For anyone else who remembers this fantastic park, you will be sad to know that the Yogi Bear two-seated bouncy thing and the four-seated insect bouncy things are no longer there.  * Tear.)

Melissa’s family came over for dinner, followed by a walk to Lindenwood to check out the current state of the river (still high, for those who don’t know).

I had to cut my weekend a little short and leave Saturday after lunch so I was able to make it back in time for Kristen’s Master’s graduation from Bethel, but it was great to get up to Fargo for a few days and finally get to meet Melissa (and of course, her whole wonderful family)!
