28 Feb 2012 eat more chocolate; drink more Dr Pepper & Caribou::march.

1. Read more books & Bible stories to Abby, now that she’s a little older & kind of understands words.

I was reading a page or two a day (average) from her Bible storybook, along with another book or so up until the last week or so…need to get back on that one.

2. Update the blog every 2 weeks, minimum.

Didn’t do so well on that in February.  Oops.

3. Sew a thing. Going for a quilt, but completing any one project will satisfy this goal. Other than a fabric flower, that is, since those take about 5 minutes and I do by hand. I also saw a really cute tree skirt on a blog I read which I’d like to attempt too.

Abby’s quilt is in process.  I need to finish the actual quilting & binding.  & I’m planning on making a matching pillow  [pillows?] with some of the fabric that did not make it onto the quilt.  Also, I pinned lots of crafty sew-y things on pinterest.  So there’s that.

4. Read all the books I got for my birthday & Christmas this year:

Reading = fail this month…still halfway through approximately ALL THE BOOKS.

5. Catch up on at least 1 TV series [some options: Chuck, House, Bones, HIMYM.]

I caught up on HIMYM while on PTO, so I’m up to the current season, so this is officially complete!  Also, I’m halfway through re-watching Charmed, if that counts.  We’ll see, maybe I’ll see if I can knock off another show or two [I’m looking at you, Bones].

6. Clean & purge, room by room [including closets].

I’m going to consider this completed, as I got through all the things I really wanted to.  I still have one bag to take to Goodwill [after the 3 bags + 1 AE box I took on PTO!].  I do still need to figure out a way to store/display/document Abby’s artwork & pictures from school.

7. Play more Wii Fit + go for walks with Abby this spring/summer/fall. That is my version of working out.

I weighed myself on the balance board in January & went for walks during my PTO [Bones was very happy to be loved again].

8. Keep up-to-date with photobooks &/or scrapbooks for Abby.

N/A right now since we’re only 2 months into 2012.

9. Bake more things [use the fun chocolate, etc. chips I liberated from the chocolate, etc. chip collection at Dave & Karen’s house!]

Still need to do this.  I watched Food Network all day on Sunday, February 12 [chocolate weekend!].  I also made muffins to celebrate having a kitchen island.  I’m so domestic.

10. Think of a 10th item for this list. Play with our camera & learn more about all the fun things it does + learn more about photo-editing.

I got Photoshop & have been having fun with the PW [Pioneer Woman] Actions…favorites so far = bring on the eyes, slight lighten, slight sharpen, & boost.

30 Aug 2011 because I obviously have a lot of free time.

I decided while on vacation that I am going to take up quilting.

Because I obviously have a lot of free time.

Since I a. work full time and b. have a 7 month old.

I have given myself a goal of completing a quilt for Abby by the time she gets a sibling.  So I have some time (at least 9 months!  haha).

[I’m getting pretty far…I have purchased fabric.  And potentially have a pattern picked out.]

In the meantime, to get myself prepared to sew a quilt (and to kill time before I , um, get a functional sewing machine), I am starting to make Abby some headbands!

This was my first attempt at making rosettes, which I crafted from some of the leftover fabric from the sewing projects I did in Abby’s room.  I discovered there are several colors of flowers and bows Abby does not own, so I decided that I should make them for her.  There are a lot of fun tutorials online, so I have obviously been spending excessive amounts of time on Pinterest doing domestic, motherly things like dishes and laundry.

In upcoming pictures of Abby, watch for flowers featuring these fun fabrics!

Then I realized that I needed somewhere to put her flowers…so I scavenged for some materials throughout the house:  picture frame with broken glass (thanks to our move to Woodbury and attempt to hang it using magnets), more leftover fabric, and some ribbon I had sitting in a box.

I assembled the pieces together and now have fun & functional wall art for her room!  I also made a ribbon hanger that I can attach other clips to (inspired by ribbon mobiles, using a wire hanger so I can hang it on the wall instead of over her crib/changing table).

Moral of the Story:

Pinterest, as expected, is very dangerous if you hope to actually be productive.

Stay tuned for…
