Wow, I guess it’s been a while since either of us has posted. Right now I’m almost done with the 2nd to last week of school. Yay! It’s about that time of the year when school is just miserable because (a) everything is due and there are finals and all that, and (b) it’s beautiful and sunny and 70′s outside, so who wants to sit in a yucky office or classroom all day? Especially my stats lab, where it averages about 85-90 degrees. That hot plus multivariate statistics for 3 hours makes one not happy Sarah.
I have finally completed my multivariate project (except for one sentence that I need to make sure I have the right terminology for, but the website I need won’t load properly), so next on my list is grading 18 APA papers and 90-ish stats in-class tests and take-homes. All this to prepare myself for the stats final in 2 weeks–double length. Hooray. Oh yes, and my own homework too. Somehow I’m supposed to fit that in.
Since it’s getting to the end of the school year, confirmation’s about over too. Tonight was the last real night; next week is dinner, then Sunday is confirmation. I get to ask questions and present the girls with their certificates. A few entertaining confirmation stories:
1. One boy always forgets to bring his Bible. Last week he said, “I just got back from vacation. I’ve been too busy to remember to bring my Bible.” My response to that was “So when you’re going to church, it doesn’t occur to you to bring your Bible?!?” The other kids in my group were amused by that.
2. One week earlier, we were discussing good teachers, role models, etc., and the kids were supposed to write down who their favorite teacher was, or the best teacher they’d ever had. One of my kids quick wrote something down and said, “Guess who I put? You!!” Awww.
3. That same night, one bright 7th grade boy said, “Guess what? Today’s 4.5.6! And it’s 123 o’clock!” I replied, “Um, it’s 7:30…that’s not exactly 123.” The other kids laughed while he tried to explain that it was 123 o’clock. At 1:23, surprisingly enough. 7th graders are easily entertained.
Random comment. It just occurred to David a couple nights ago that he has a lot of clothes.
That’s it for now. PRAXIS II (Middle School Content) is on Saturday. Because I need something else taking up time in my life!! Oh, and last Saturday was our 1-year engagement anniversary. We relived our date that night by going to Pizza Luce and then the Tea Garden. However, we did not have to squoosh onto the same chair, and I didn’t get another sparkly thing. Sad.
