07 Nov 2008 everyone has an opinion…

…mine just happens to be right! Um, literally. Everyone is blogging about the election, so I thought I’d add my 2 cents.

Basically, if you know me, you know where I stand. If you don’t, here are 2 clues:
1. When I was 5 (1988 election-Bush), I knew whoever was running against George HW Bush was for abortion. I knew that abortion was something about killing babies, and I had a new baby brother, so I figured he’d kill my brother if he was elected.
2. When I was 9 (1992 election-Clinton), I was convinced the world would end if Clinton was elected. Apparently it didn’t, but he lost in our school election. In fact, Ross Perot even got more votes than him!! (13 for Perot, 10 for Clinton, the others were all for Bush. Pretty sure I told everyone that if they voted for Clinton, the world was going to end, and they believed me!)
Anyway, the election may not have turned out the way I would have preferred, but I think it helps a lot to remember that nothing surprises God. He knew the outcome of the election and will continue to work regardless of who’s President. And I do have to admit that having a President who’s black definitely shows how far the country’s come as a whole since even just 50 years ago. It’ll be an interesting 4 years, that’s for sure.

05 Nov 2008 Dear Mr. Obama:

Dear Mr. Obama:
I did not vote for you, but I wish you well. Please take this job with care. You promised many things that those of us who did not vote for you will now hold you accountable for. Please remember that as you promised to raise taxes for the rich, you also promised to help the middle class, like me. Don’t let your extravagant ideas of health care get in the way of helping the middle class. My health care is going up on average 33% this next year. My raise, up to 9%. Those numbers don’t match. That means that with what I have right now, I will make less next year than this year, but I’ll pay more in taxes (thanks MN democrats for the gas tax and the VOTE YES tax). Whatever this change is, make it good. Make it last. Make it so that when the next election comes around, I may posit the notion of voting for you (although I don’t agree with you on some pretty fundamental issues). You have the next four years to prove that you are the change we need, since that’s what America voted for. Again, I did not vote for you, but you are my President, and so, I will respect you (unlike those that do not respect our current President). Thank you.

07 Oct 2008 7.5 years of George Bush
 |  Category: News, Political  | Tags: , , , ,  | Comments off

(from an E-mail forward I got today)

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high–14,000 +
5) American’s were buying new cars,taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!…

But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION
DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~
2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT! ….

REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.

AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!

JUST HOW MUCH MORE ‘CHANGE’ DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?
