Baby Girl’s 6-month checkup was this morning.
She succeeded in looking adorable as usual, and the doctor says she just keeps getting cuter. Thank you very much.

Abby was unsure about the doctor and her assistant…kept eyeing them up like, “I know you’re going to do something I don’t like…I can tell.” She kept looking at me during her checkup, making sure it was okay for the doctor to look in her ears, listen to her heart, etc. It was really cute.

6 month stats.
Head Circumference: 16 1/4 inches
[13.2 percentile]
Weight: 12 lbs., 4 oz.
[0.9 percentile. !!!]
Length: 25 inches
[17.2 percentile]
Weight for Length: 0.8 percentile
This is what the doctor looks at to make sure she’s growing…Abby’s been staying in the same growth pattern since she was born—her weight for length has stayed in the same percentile.

She ate her oral vaccine like a rock star baby…record time! She had her face-crumpling-up-then-delayed-crying reaction to her shots, followed by a silly “AHH! AHH! AHH!” cry afterwards. She then gave Amanda (the nurse/physician’s assistant/whatever her real title is) the evil eye.

Bones and Abby continue to be best friends. Abby thinks Bones is hilarious and likes to watch her. She giggles when Bones licks her hands and feet (see above picture).
Abby is a pretty calm baby in general, with silly moments in the afternoon, where she giggles at herself. If you tickle her or do funny things when she’s in her silly mood, she’ll have giggle attacks, where she’ll just start laughing like crazy. So cute & sooo funny!

She thinks she can talk. One day when I brought her to school, she said “Hi!” to one of her little friends and the teacher, who looked at me and asked, “Did she just say ‘hi’?” Yes, I think she did. My baby’s a genius. She’s also said things that sounds like, “Mommy,” “Daddy,” and “Abby,” all in correct context.

Abby is mostly in 6 month clothes, still because I am sick of her 3 month clothes. Anything with a waistband just hangs there & almost falls off when she stands, but she needs the length. I still have her in size 1 diapers. We have some size 2’s, but she isn’t outgrowing the 1’s yet.

We started Abby on food after her 4 month appointment. She is a fantastic little eater. She doesn’t spit anything back out, and is starting to try to feed herself with the spoon. [Sorry, sweetie, not quite yet!] Her favorites are oatmeal, applesauce, pears, sweet potatoes, squash, and green beans. She eats prunes, bananas, and rice cereal with no problem, but doesn’t inhale them like the others. She doesn’t like carrots: she still eats them, but cries the whole time! She really liked her rice cereal with apples and mangoes too. We picked up peaches (they were out previously) and a bunch of 2nd foods (mixed fruits, sweet potatoes + corn, cereal + fruit, etc.) when we went grocery shopping after vacation, so she has quite the variety of food now. I got the okay from the doctor today to start her on finger foods—bring on the Cheerios, puffs, and little chunks of cheese & bananas! We also are good to go on baby yogurt.

Abby loves to stand up and looks around at everything. She likes to be able to see what’s going on. She knows how to roll both ways now, and doesn’t get so upset with being on her tummy—just when she gets bored being there. She tries to crawl, but can’t quite get the traction she needs to really move. She likes to play in her jumperoo & her bouncer, now that she can reach the toys! She loves her mobile gym/playmat thing, and also likes playing on a quilt on the floor with her burp cloth. Who knew a burp cloth could be so entertaining?!

Moral of the story…
Abby is on a strict, full-fat diet, courtesy of her doctor. No low-fat or fat-free foods for this girl!
Stay tuned for…
I’ve decided to take up a new hobby. I’m not crazy. Also, another book review…once I finish the book!
The end.
