So excited to be two months old!

Abby’s still our teensy little baby.  She is in [mostly] all 0-3 month clothes, which are actually starting to fit her now.  We just started her in size 1 diapers in the last week or so, which are still huge on her, but she eats what a 2.5 month old baby should, so she needs diapers to accommodate the output of a 2.5 month old.

She was not really a fan of the shots at her two month appointment; she got the oral vaccine first, which she wasn’t too sure about at first. Then she decided, “Eh, it’s something to eat,” and just went with it. David held her for her shots, and she was okay at first, but then had a horrible delayed blood-curdling scream! Poor little girl. She got three shots and two pink camouflage band aids. She was not pleased with me when I took the band aids off and screamed again. Poor Daddy was home with her that day, and had to deal with Miss Crankypants.

Abby is a smiley baby if you ask her if she tormented Daddy and Bones the previous day (David’s been home on paternity leave for the past 2.5 weeks).  She likes her angry bird toy and will smile and make noises at it, along with following it with her eyes.  When she hears me talking, she’ll look around to try to find me if someone else is holding her.  She is also sometimes Crabby Abby, also referred to as cr-Abby.

She will lay on the mat of her mobile gym for 2-3 cycles of the music (15-20 minutes) and stare at herself in the mirror, look at the spinning birdies, and kick the hippo.  When she’s on her tummy, she can lift her head and chest to look straight ahead (90 degrees) if she feels like it.  She kicks and gets her knees under herself and thinks she can crawl.  When we were in Fargo for her baptism, she rolled over from her tummy to her back, which has been repeated just once.  She usually just flings her legs and hips over, then gets bored.  She tries to stand when someone holds her up, which is really fun at bath time when I’m trying to wash her back!

Abby has exciting Houdini skills too.  She can completely escape from her sleep-sack!  Not quite sure how she manages that, but there have been a few mornings when she has escaped from her little cocoon and it’s all down by her feet.  Fairly impressive considering the amount of velcro on those things!

Today = Abby is 8 weeks old!  Oh my goodness, she’s getting so big.

This is my last week off work; I ‘get’ to go back on Monday.  Too bad I can’t just stay home and keep getting paid…that would be fantastic!
Since I have been so amazing at keeping up with blog posts during my time off [ha], I figured I should at least post something before I go back!  So here are a few pictures, some stats, and a fun game!  Woo!

One month old, and incredible thrilled with Mommy’s photo shoot.

Speaking of Abby getting so big, on Tuesday she has her 2 month appointment.  Let’s play a game called

Guess How Big Abby Is!

Here are some clues:
1.  She still fits into some of her newborn-size clothes.  She is too long for many of her sleep & plays and the Gerber onesies.  The next size up is almost all huge on her, like the newborn size was when she was born.

Newborn clothes = 5-8 lbs, up to 21.5 inches
3 month clothes = 8-12.5 lbs, 21.5-24 inches
(based off Carter’s sizing)

2.  Her stats to date:

Birth:
Weight:  6 lbs, 4 oz
Length:  20 inches
Head Circumference:  13.5 inches

2.5 weeks:
Weight:  6 lbs, 6 oz
Length:  20.25 inches
Head Circumference:  13.5 inches

5.5 weeks:
(we went in to get her cold checked out, and they just checked weight.  The others are estimates done at home)
Weight:  7 lbs, 14 oz
Length:  ~22 inches
Head Circumference:  ~14 inches

3.  Abby showing off how big she is:

4.  Abby a couple days ago, showing off in her 3 month clothes:

So, leave a comment with your guesses on weight, height, &/or head circumference!

And don’t worry, I will post more in the [semi] near future. [Hopefully.]
Until then, you can satisfy your inevitable craving for more pictures of Abby by visiting my facebook album.

27 Apr 2006 My Long Lost Life

Wow, I guess it’s been a while since either of us has posted. Right now I’m almost done with the 2nd to last week of school. Yay! It’s about that time of the year when school is just miserable because (a) everything is due and there are finals and all that, and (b) it’s beautiful and sunny and 70′s outside, so who wants to sit in a yucky office or classroom all day? Especially my stats lab, where it averages about 85-90 degrees. That hot plus multivariate statistics for 3 hours makes one not happy Sarah.
I have finally completed my multivariate project (except for one sentence that I need to make sure I have the right terminology for, but the website I need won’t load properly), so next on my list is grading 18 APA papers and 90-ish stats in-class tests and take-homes. All this to prepare myself for the stats final in 2 weeks–double length. Hooray. Oh yes, and my own homework too. Somehow I’m supposed to fit that in.
Since it’s getting to the end of the school year, confirmation’s about over too. Tonight was the last real night; next week is dinner, then Sunday is confirmation. I get to ask questions and present the girls with their certificates. A few entertaining confirmation stories:
1. One boy always forgets to bring his Bible. Last week he said, “I just got back from vacation. I’ve been too busy to remember to bring my Bible.” My response to that was “So when you’re going to church, it doesn’t occur to you to bring your Bible?!?” The other kids in my group were amused by that.
2. One week earlier, we were discussing good teachers, role models, etc., and the kids were supposed to write down who their favorite teacher was, or the best teacher they’d ever had. One of my kids quick wrote something down and said, “Guess who I put? You!!” Awww.
3. That same night, one bright 7th grade boy said, “Guess what? Today’s 4.5.6! And it’s 123 o’clock!” I replied, “Um, it’s 7:30…that’s not exactly 123.” The other kids laughed while he tried to explain that it was 123 o’clock. At 1:23, surprisingly enough. 7th graders are easily entertained.
Random comment. It just occurred to David a couple nights ago that he has a lot of clothes.
That’s it for now. PRAXIS II (Middle School Content) is on Saturday. Because I need something else taking up time in my life!! Oh, and last Saturday was our 1-year engagement anniversary. We relived our date that night by going to Pizza Luce and then the Tea Garden. However, we did not have to squoosh onto the same chair, and I didn’t get another sparkly thing. Sad. :(

Hmmm, I need to either get a life other than stats, or become more creative with my blog titles.
So yeah. I go to school a lot. Today the 3005 students turned in their first APA paper, so I get to spend this week grading those. Yay! I also get to give a mini-presentation on an article in Seminar tomorrow. That will be exciting. I heart seminar. This week also brings more R programming, my favorite!
We had a floorset at work this weekend. Dave “got” to do 2 nights of it. We did it in one night, although we did a 9pm-8am, while they did 10pm-4am. At about 2:30, everyone at my store (or maybe about 3 of them) started giggling uncontrollably. I did not, as it is easier to just fold stuff and get done with it.
I went to dinner with Leah and Marie yesterday. Yay for Ree visiting! Too bad the U doesn’t believe in giving us President’s Day off; otherwise maybe I could see her longer.
That’s about all I can think of. Oh, if anyone else wants pictures, let us know!!

19 Dec 2005 9 days to go…
 |  Category: photos, Sarah  | Tags: ,  | Comments off

So the wedding’s in 9 days. Between now (Monday) and Wednesday, I have to do my stats take home (which, as Rick and Wendy so kindly noted at the top, should not take more than 10 hours if we’ve kept up), grade finals (in class and take home portions), grade papers, and move from my apartment to Dave’s. We’ll see how this works…
We have a pretty Christmas tree. It’s my tree from last year (one of those $17 Target ones), with both of our stuff on it. There are lots and lots of lights and ornaments. It is pretty and sparkly. (Now there are presents under it.)

We have a new pastor at my church. He is actually the pastor from my church at home from when I was little (he left my church when I was 6 1/2). It’s fun to have him again. Dave likes him too, I think. :)
What else is going on? Hmmm, I had to present in seminar last week. I had to make computer code to calculate Hoyt’s Reliability Coefficient using R. That was fun, or something, but I did it! Woohoo!
Dave was looking at phones last night. Apparently, it would cost about the same for him to add a line to mine and both of us upgrade our phones as it would for me to pay the early termination fee and transfer over to his and upgrade phones. Interesting. He prefers playing with cell phone websites to thinking about the wedding. :)
I’m going to go attempt to work on my take home now. Later.

Please excuse the name of this one…in one of the classes I’m a TA for, I’ve been getting multiple questions about what these actually are, so I’ve got them stuck in my head.
Anyway, it’s been a while, so I thought I should write something. School kind of makes more sense now, but it alternates from day to day and class to class where I already have learned everything we’re talking about, and then it’s suddenly way over my head. I’m like, wait a minute, I was completely following last time, and now this stuff is just crazy!! Ah well, maybe someday I’ll be smart…
Work’s exciting. It was the Holiday floorset this past weekend. I think corporate forgot that Christmas isn’t for 2 more months, because I’m pretty sure they’re not meaning Halloween by “Holiday”!!! And we have to answer the phone even more strangely than before (and no one at my store remembers!), as Dave was quick to remind me yesterday when he called about a question we had earlier. It’s even on the poster behind the registers. One of my managers said that he can look right at it while he’s answering the phone and mess it up!!
So yeah, just over 2 months until the wedding! Wow. I’m going home in a couple weeks for more exciting planning (cake, flowers, dress fitting, and bridal shower at church!) and again in another couple weeks (trial hair and makeup run!).
I should grade labs now since lab is tomorrow. Bye!
